Until very recently, I wouldn’t be caught dead in a pair of slides. Even as I bought a new pair as a present for someone a few weeks ago I caught myself turning my nose up a little. I don’t know why but they just didn’t sit well with me. Like most things in life, they looked good on other people, I’d even go so far as to say they looked cool but I just couldn’t picture them on my own feet.
Maybe it’s been the sudden realisation that I seriously lack summer shoes or maybe I’m just a huge trends sheep (the latter is more likely) but as of the last 2 weeks I have been slides on the brain.
As I started researching my options, it wasn’t long before I realised that there is so much more to slides than the rubbery, heavily branded, sporty sandal I associated with the trend (although apparently these now make me weak at the purse strings too.) We have feathers and bows and embellishments. Satin and knotted and high end. We’ve got high street and patterned and hundreds of outfit options.
Why didn’t I get in on this sooner? *Probably because I was so concerned about what I would possibly wear them with. Thank god for celebrity style forums and Pinterest boards dedicated to influencer’s style.
*also very concerned about accidentally kicking them off my feet, far into the distance while attempting to walk anywhere in them – an issue I’m sure none of the below girls have to worry about.
