With it being Valentine’s Day, it seemed appropriate to incorporate some kind of Valentine’s related element into this week’s Shoesday Tuesday post. That being said Valentine’s Day or not, I have such a soft spot for the colour red this season. I’m trying to brave colour more and more as the season progresses and the further away we get from cold, bitter January, the easier it gets. That being said, I’m all about the baby steps in taking on colour. Too much too fast and I might never go near anything other than black clothing for the rest of my life – an outcome that might get a little predictable.

I’ve mentioned before and I stand by the fact that when experimenting with a new trend, easing yourself in with a pair of shoes can be the best way. Worst case scenario if you find out that the trend isn’t of you, you get a new pair of shoes to add to the collection and you can never be sad about a new pair of shoes.

Your initial thoughts when faced with a pair of red shoes may be to stay well away, after all it’s a colour that begs a lot of attention, something a lot of us want to avoid. That being said, it also represents passion and fire and with the right kind of shoes, your confidence levels with soar through the roof strutting around in red heels. Forget the Wizard of Oz connotations and take the trend in your stride.

Tip: Look to blue denim to dress down the outfit.
