Finally, payday is in sight. January is always such a financial struggle after the craziness of Christmas and even though we manage to squeeze in a few sneaky sale purchases, shopping just doesn’t feel the same in January. It’s more of a guilt ridden activity rather than an exciting way to spend your weekend, though with spending habits like mine most shopping is often accompanied with guilt.
I’ve started to keep a note in my phone of the items I need or want in my life. Whether it’s clothes, accessories, homeware or more practical items, keeping track of them all has helped me refrain from impulse buying this month. It meant that even when I did try to take on the sales, I knew exactly what I was looking for. It also has helped me to shift some of the shopping guilt because at least I know I’m buying things that I need or purchases that I’ve actually thought through. That being said, there are a few (read: A LOT of) items on my wish list that probably don’t need to be there but as we all know, I’m a big believer in treating yourself.
Although I’m not lucky enough to be celebrating pay day anytime soon, I do have a birthday coming up next week so you know, massive hint hint to anyone looking for gift ideas for me. Joking…ish. If I did have the joy of payday happening in the near future, adding these items to my life are exactly how I would be celebrating.
