Other than constantly cold, I’m never really sure how I feel about January. I appreciate that it’s a new start to a new year and that can be massively uplifting, particularly when waving goodbye to a car crash year like 2016 but sometimes it can be a bit of a struggle to see the positive side of January.
There are a lot of negative associations – saying goodbye to all of the festive cheer, heading back to school or work, exams, financial strain, the list goes on but you get the drill. With that being said, I really don’t like to focus on the negativity and try to force myself to be more positive and look for the silver lining in the situation where and when I can. In this case, January and it’s bitterly cold weather’s silver lining is all of the cosy clothing and accessories currently on the market.
I’ve mentioned before that I’m a bit of an old lady at heart (‘a bit’ being a massive understatement). I would take a cosy night in over a night out partying most times, especially when it’s so cold outside. So, it comes as no surprise that cosying up in fleecy pjs, fluffy dressing gowns and furry slippers in front of the fire with a cup of tea in my hands is my idea of heaven during the Winter.
Over the course of the last week I’ve been all about staying as cosy and warm as possible. Every night I fall asleep thinking of all of the jumpers in my wardrobe (not a lot), all of the long sleeved tops in my wardrobe (again, not a lot) and the most practical shoes in my wardrobe (suprise, surprise – not a lot). More times than I care to admit I’ve considered wearing them all at once Joey Tribbiani style.
With that in mind, here’s my rundown of the must have items to keep you cosy for the month of January to help keep those January blues at bay.
