#TuesdayShoesday: Over The Knee Boots

If I could spend winter wearing just one outfit combo it would be jumper dresses and over the knee boots. Lydia Elise Millen does this so well. I think some people assume that the bigger fashion bloggers should be wearing a different outfit everyday and never outfit repeat but that’s just such an unrealistic expectation to have, even if a lot of bloggers do feel a pressure to do this. Lydia seems to have adopted jumper dresses and OTK boots as her winter uniform and I’m loving it. If only I had her vast wardrobe of cosy jumper dresses and her killer collection of Stuart Weitzman boots.

I think when it comes to OTK boots, getting the proportions right is so key which is why jumper dresses and OTK boots look so good together. You get to hide under a big baggy jumper while still looking super chic and feminine – not to mention the effect these boots have on your confidence. Although on this occasion I wasn’t brave enough to go bare legged when shooting this look, thigh high boots without tights and paired with a dress or mini-skirt really showcases the true beauty of the boots, emphasising their elegant silhouette.

For casual elegance during the day, the boots work well with jeans and a nice top or blouse. What first comes to mind when thinking of daytime styling options is the famous ruffled blouse from H&M (as worn here). Alternatively a chic pyjama style shirt would be perfect. Step it up for glamorous evening wear with a mini-skirt or dress and you’re sorted.

You know that feeling you get when you put on your sunglasses and you feel a little sassy and like you can get away with anything because no one can see you behind your sunglasses? That’s kind of how I feel when I wear these boots. If you own a pair of thigh high boots then you’ll know exactly what I mean (hopefully). While in my head I’m strutting around like Queen Bey, in reality I’m concentrating so hard on getting one foot in front of the other without going tumbling down the street.

I dream of the day that I can afford to buy the Stuart Weitzman version of these boots but in the mean time, I really don’t wear these boots enough and that’s something that I intend to change. They were fairly expensive given I live off an intern salary (or lack of salary) so I really treasure them, sometimes a little too much. So much so that I barely wear them and keep them carefully protected in their box with the tissue paper. I’ve promised myself that I will give these boots the air time they deserve and wear them much more this winter. Followed by buying all of the jumper dresses in sight of course. Expect to see a lot more of these boots in future posts…

While I spend the next 3 years counting my coppers for a pair of Stuart Weitzman’s, below are a few other thigh high over the knee boots available to shop at the moment. I bought mine last year and can’t seem to find the same ones online but they’re available from Kurt Geiger in navy and taupe and both are on sale!
